The Ainazhi lighthouse was built in 1930 and originally served as the rear guiding light for the Ainaži port. The reconstruction of the Ainaži port was discontinued in the 1990s, and it may be said that, at present, the lighthouse just marks the stony sandbanks of the seacoast and the oversanded Ainaži port area.
Located at the intersection of Barona and Nakotnes streets in Ainaži, a town on the east coast of the Gulf of Rīga close to the Estonian border, about 125 km (80 mi) north of Rīga.
