Slitere lighthouse (an observation platform)
Very similar in design to Ov?«??i Light, both towers representing an old style Russian lighthouse plan. This tower, built originally as a daymark, is atop a high hill with a focal plane height of 82 m (269 ft). From the gallery one can sometimes see across the strait to the Sõrve lighthouse on the Estonian island of Saaremaa. The lighthouse is now incorporated in Sl?«tere National Park and has been restored and open to the public since 2002. There is a museum in the tower with exhibits on Latvian lighthouses. Located about 10 km (6 mi) west southwest of Cape Kolka and 5.3 km (3.3 mi) from the coast. Site open;
Fresnel lens from this lighthouse is on display at the Ov?«??i lighthouse museum.
 Tower open daily except Mondays and Tuesdays. Site manager: Sl?«tere National Park.

 The Sl?«tere lighthouse was constructed in 1850, but far back in the 11th century, this place was notorious for misleading bonfires made to deceive sailors and plunder their stranded ships afterwards. Also, this has possibly been an ancient holy place, since the old maps name it as the Temple Mount (Domkalns) or Church Hill (Bazn?«ckalns). Toward the middle of the 19th century, the local Baron Osten-Zakens cut out big trees at the tip of a cliff, which served as a landmark for seamen. Therefore, it was decided to build a lighthouse here, and in 1850 a 26 m tall round stone-wall lighthouse tower was erected. Among other Latvia??™s lighthouses, the Sl?«tere lighthouse is the most distant from the shore (5.3 km away); however, till 1999 it had the highest light above the sea level and even reached the height of 102 meters. Today the Sl?«tere lighthouse is under the jurisdiction of the Sl?«tere National Park administration, it includes an observation platform and a mini-exhibition on the history of lighthouses in Latvia. The Sl?«tere lighthouse is the second oldest navigational construction preserved on the territory of Latvia.
